I write this as I enjoy one of my last meals in Thailand, a chicken pad see ew.
In my attempt to escape the tourist trap restaurants of Ao Nang, I found a nice little restaurant by the river on the city's outskirts. They serve a wide range of traditional Thai dishes, ranging in price from one to three dollars (if you splurge on seafood). What I like about this restaurant is its homey, out-of-the-way feel. It's run by two super sweet old ladies who will whip you up the most fantastic meal.
So, what are these three flights to Tokyo, you may be wondering? Is it an analogy, a simile, or another comparative literary device? None of the above. It is literally three direct, one-way flights to Tokyo.
It started with my initially planned round-trip ticket from Bangkok going through Tokyo. It was supposed to be a straightforward trip there and back at the end of my trip. The wonders of Southeast Asia enticed me: surfing in Lombok, the rainforests of Sabah, and so many more! I had to make a detour.
Reality quickly set in or rather my lack of research. I realized I could not afford such a lengthy time kicking it abroad in the world's 1st and 4th most expensive cities. A quick fix? Another flight to Tokyo!
Then my card got defrauded, and so the bank canceled it. Not again!! This forced me to dial back all my extravagant plans EVEN MORE. Strapped for cash, I booked my third and final ticket to Tokyo early to save some money and get some cash.
So there you have it: three flights to Tokyo and a delicious plate of chicken pad see ew.
